What GeriClinics keeps, where it is kept and for how long.
Last updated 22 October 2026
In short
- You do not need an account. There is no sign-up and no sign-in yet.
- Your study progress is kept in your own browser, not on our servers.
- Nothing you enter in the assessment tools or the medication review is sent to us.
- GeriClinics sets no cookies and uses no advertising or analytics trackers.
- Please never enter information that identifies a patient.
What stays in your browser
GeriClinics saves a few things in your browser’s own storage so the site remembers them. This data stays on your device: it is not sent to us, and we cannot see it. Another person using the same browser profile could see it.
- Your study progress: bookmarks, questions marked complete, self-ratings, clinical case attempts, a count of study actions per day, and your exam plan.
- Kept in this browser until you clear it with Clear my progress on Your progress, or clear this site’s data in your browser.
- Whether you chose the light, dark or system theme.
- Kept in this browser until you change it or clear this site’s data.
- The assessment scores and structured flags you saved to the CGA summary.
- Kept in this tab only, until you close the tab or choose Start a new assessment.
- The medication review in progress: medicines, doses, an age band, structured conditions, and your notes and decisions.
- Kept in this tab only, until you close the tab or choose Start a new review.
If you used the earlier GeriQBank on this site, its saved bookmarks, completed questions and ratings are copied into your progress once. Clear my progress removes those too.
Patient information
GeriClinics is designed so that you never need to enter anything that identifies a patient. The assessment tools keep only scores and structured flags. The medication review has no field for a name, date of birth or hospital number, and records age as a band.
Some fields are free text: medicine names, doses, indications and your notes. Do not type names, dates of birth, hospital or record numbers, addresses, or anything else that could identify a patient into them. Printed or copied summaries are yours to handle under the rules that apply where you work.
What reaches our servers
- Search. When you search, the words you type are sent to our server to find matching pages. They are not stored by GeriClinics, but because they are part of the page address they can appear in our hosting provider’s request logs.
- Hosting. The site is hosted by Vercel. Like any web server, it receives your IP address, your browser type and the page you asked for in order to deliver it, and keeps request logs for a limited time under Vercel’s privacy policy. We use those logs only to keep the site working.
- Fonts and files. Fonts, images and the question bank PDF are served from this site, so viewing a page does not contact other companies.
- Email. If you email us — for example with the Report a problem with this page link — your message is sent from your own email account, not through this site. We use it only to reply and to correct the site. Please do not include anything that identifies a patient.
- Links to other sites. Guideline summaries and tools link to their original sources, such as journals, PubMed and guideline publishers. When you follow one, that site’s own privacy policy applies.
Accounts
Optional sign-in, to sync your progress between devices, is planned but not yet available. Before it is switched on, this policy will be updated to say exactly what an account stores, where it is stored and how to delete it. Using GeriClinics will stay possible without an account.
Your choices
- Remove your study progress at any time with Clear my progress on Your progress.
- End an assessment or medication review with Start a new assessment or Start a new review, or by closing the tab.
- Clearing this site’s data in your browser settings removes everything GeriClinics has saved on that device.
- In a private or incognito window, nothing is kept after the window is closed.
Who GeriClinics is for
GeriClinics is written for doctors, postgraduate trainees, students and other health professionals. It is not designed for children, or for patients looking for advice about their own care.
Changes to this policy
If what GeriClinics keeps changes, this page will be updated before the change takes effect, and the date at the top will change. See also the terms of use.
